SFSU Buy/Sell/Trade was a project from my Human-Computer Interactions (aka UI/UX) class. We were asked to create a marketplace website exclusively for SFSU students to buy, sell, and trade items and services.
Throughout the project, we had to thoroughly document at each milestone, including an executive summary, uses cases, personae, major functions, and low fidelity mock-ups. Since the class focused a lot on user experience, we also came up with a usability evaluation and had other classmates act as out focus group to test our mock ups.
Unlike my SFSU Trade Mart project, which was very similar in terms of the type of website, this website had no backend functionality. Our group decideded to split up the work by assigning a page to each person and using GitHub to merge everything together. We also had regular Zoom meetings to discuss our progress, Trello to track our progress, and we communicated throughout the week on Discord.
For one of our milestone, we created high fidelity mockups using Figma. I found the mockups to be very fun since it was a time when my teammates and I could bounce ideas off of each other. The collaborative aspect made the whole process of creating the website much more personal and accomplishing.
Something I found very difficult was getting the spacing to look good with different window sizes. If I were to add more to our project right now, I would probably clean up the look of our navigation bar and add some hardcoded text below the product page to show a description and reviews.
Overall, I found this to be a very fun website to build and it's something I would love to do in a professional setting with other people.
